Registering for CIS-UTR

Get registered for Self Assessment by ringing the Registration number on 0845 915-4515, give them your personal details including start date (Give them a date in two weeks time) and NI Number. You will receive a UTR (Unique Tax Reference) number in the post in due time.

Wait two days for your Self Assessment status to go through. You do not need to wait to receive your UTR Number as long as you have waited these two days from the date you spoke to the Self Assessment Team. You can now proceed to the next step....

Next, Call the New CIS Registration Help Line on 0845 366-7899 providing them with the following details;

• Name

• Address

• Date of Birth

• NI Number

• Telephone Number

• UTR Number (first 10 digits of your CIS Card Number if you have one). This is not essential as long as you have registered for Self Assessment and waited two days

• Date plan to start working

• Type of Work

Once you have done this and the Help line have confirmed at the end of the call that you are on their database for the New CIS Scheme then give Universal Payroll Services a call and we will get you verified and start to pay you.
